Kristoffersson Motorsport on one and two after day one

Reigning World champion Johan Kristoffersson (VW Polo RX1e) is leading it during the third round of the 2025 FIA World Rallycross Championship at Nyirád in Hungary after the first day (July 19). The Swede set fastest times in Q1 and Q2. Teammate Ole Christian Veiby (VW Polo RX1e) completed the success for Kristoffersson Motorsport by qualifying second on Saturday evening.

For the third round of the championship the World RX starting list was holding six Electrical Vehicles (Kristoffersson, Veiby, Grönholm, Andersson and the Hansen brothers) and two Internal Combustion Engine cars (Rytkönen and O’Donovan). Winner of the previous event in Sweden (Höljes), Johan Kristoffersson, started his Saturday with being fastest in the practice session beating both of the CE Dealer Team drivers Klara Andersson (PWR Hyundai i20 RX1e) and points leader after two events Niclas Grönholm (PWR Hyundai i20 RX1e) who were respectively second and third.

Then Kristoffersson was out in the first race of Q1 and won it after having led it from start to finish setting eventually the fastest Q1 time. Grönholm, who finished second, signed also for the second fastest time overall. Third place in Q1 was for Ole Christian Veiby who won the second race.

Later on in Q2, the named drivers were together on the grid for the second race that was won again by Kristoffersson. Nevertheless Veiby had the better start in the race, following the joker lap strategy – with Kristoffersson passing through the joker lap section in the second lap and Veiby the lap after – Kristoffersson was able to pass his teammate before the latter joined the main track again. Therefore Kristoffersson is holding the overnight lead ahead of Veiby. Grönholm is currently third with the first ICE car – Patrick O’Donovan (Peugeot 208) – fourth. Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208 RX1e) is rounding off the top five after the first day.

In Euro RX1, Damian Litwinowicz (Audi S1) claimed the overnight lead after he set a fastest time in Q2. Hungarian driver Andor Trepák (Renault Mégane Mk4) is tied in points with Litwinowicz. Another Hungarian driver, Tamás Kárai (Audi S1) is currently third. Points leader after two events Yury Belevskiy (Audi S1) is currently in sixth.
