In the light of the opening round of the new Projekt E Series coming up on August 22-23 at Höljes in Sweden the announcement was made on Thursday (August 6) that former FIA World Rally Championship driver and Citroën works driver Mads Østberg (32) from Norway will race the electrical Citroën C3 ERX. The car was built by Austria’s STARD with support of Citroën Racing (see this article).
Østberg, who is experienced in racing Citroën C3 R5 cars as he took part and won earlier this season in the WRC-2 support category to the FIA World Rally Championship in Monte Carlo and Sweden, sees the race in Höljes as a nice opportunity.
It’s a really nice opportunity for me to take part in this project in Höljes. For sure everything will be brand new to me, the car, the track and I’ve never competed in Rallycross before so I think it will be an amazing experience. To drive this car was so much fun already, it’s so powerful and so enjoyable. It will be really, really amazing to finally compete in Rallycross. I’m loving to do it in the electric Citroën C3 ERX.
