In light of an imminent announcement by the Scottish government and the expectation of tightening Covid-19 measures in England, the 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship team has taken the difficult decision to postpone the second round of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy presented by Cooper Tires at Knockhill Circuit on 26/27 September.
Our number one priority is the safety of our competitors and our team. While we could have waited until we know full details of the announcements we felt that it was necessary to make a decision now to mitigate costs for those attending. We are also considering the fairness for competitors who are already prevented from competing due to local lockdowns, those overseas competitors affected by international travel restrictions, and those who may be affected by enhanced measures in the intervening time. Making this decision now provides certainty rather than a last-minute response to the respective government indications.
We will continue to work with Knockhill to look for an alternative date. We successfully ran the first round at Lydden Hill and remain committed to running the remaining rounds at Pembrey and Mondello Park provided local restrictions allow.
