The calendar for the 2024 FIA World Rallycross Championship has been announced following today’s (February 28) FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting at Geneva.
For the first time in World RX history, the electric RX1e cars – introduced two years ago – will go head to head with the, for 2024, sustainably-fuelled RX1 combustion counterparts cars.
The 2024 schedule features five double-header fixtures totalling ten rounds, preceded by a standalone FIA European Rallycross Championship opener on June 8-9 at Essay (Circuit des Ducs) in France.
The World Championship then kicks off at Höljes’ ‘Magic Weekend’ in Sweden on July 6-7 followed by Hungary (Nyirád) on July 27-28, Belgium (Mettet) on August 17-18 and Portugal (Montalegre) on September 7-8. The season finale is scheduled for November 30 and December 1 in Australia – the first time the championship will make it ‘Down Under’. The Promoter’s press release further reads that “discussions are ongoing to add an event in Asia”, prior to the Australian season finale.
