The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) met, for the third time this year, earlier today (October 9). A number of decisions for different championships were taken during today’s meeting.
Regarding future FIA Rallycross championships a new naming convention for the categories involved was approved by the Council. The existing categories for Supercar and Super1600 will become respectively RX1 and RX3. RX1e on the other hand will be in use in future events for the electric Supercar category while the new Junior eRX will be known as RX2e.
Furthermore, Extreme E, the new electric off-road motor racing series that attracts plenty of interest from current World RX drivers, has been awarded FIA International Series status to become ‘Extreme E International Series’.
The next WMSC meeting is scheduled for December 16, 2020.
