Today we received a press release from the organizer of the Spa World Rallycross of Benelux 2020 in which they “postpone the 2nd edition of this event to the next year.” This means the event for this year is cancelled.
Originally this event was scheduled for May timeframe. It was then postponed to October 3–4 and could have been run at that time. Instead, it was moved to November 21–22.
This was a chance and a risk at the same time. Only 400 spectators could have visited the event if it would have taken place in October. The organizers hoped for much more spectators in November. However, there was always a chance that everything would become worse when the temperatures go down. Today we know that the second point was stronger than the first…
This decision is related to an exceptional situation and even if this saddens all the teams who have worked so hard to hold this second edition (of Spa World Rallycross of Benelux), announced last week moreover to be held behind closed doors following the deterioration in the public health situation, our priority is and will remain the health of safety of everyone.

We are in contact with IMG to understand what this means for the FIA European Rallycross Championship 2020. According to our understanding, a FIA championship title will only be given if three rounds of a champions have taken place. This would mean that we may see the Euro Supercars in Germany.
But what happens if that round is cancelled, too?
